Cartridge Brass also known as yellow brass has a nominal composition of 70% copper and 30% zinc. It has excellent to good corrosion resistance in most environments, but is not suitable for use with certain materials, such as acetic acid, moist ammonia or ammonia compounds, hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. It is the most ductile of the brasses and has superior cold workability, good hot formability, and is used in greater quantity than any other brasses.
In metallurgy, stainless steel, also known as inox steel or inox from French inoxydable (inoxidizable), is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content by mass. Stainless steels are notable for their corrosion resistance, which increases with increasing chromium content.
Stainless steels are rolled into sheets, plates, bars, wire, and tubing to be used in cookware, cutlery, surgical instruments, major appliances and as construction material in large buildings, paper mills, chemical plants, water treatment), and storage tanks and tankers for chemicals and food products (for example, chemical tankers and road tankers). Stainless steel’s corrosion resistance, the ease with which it can be steam cleaned and sterilized and no need for other surface coatings has also influenced its use in commercial kitchens and food processing plants.

At Langille’s Metal Recycling, alloy wheels are one of our staple components from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) that we recycle. Most modern-day vehicles have alloy wheels and at Langille’s we recycle alloys of all sizes, styles and weights. In order to capture the best price the material has to be clean with Led weights, valve stems, tires & centre caps removed. We also purchase these complete at a lesser price if you do not want to go through the hassle of cleaning them yourself.
As lead has one of the highest recycling rates of all common use materials today, at Langille’s Metal Recycling we specialize in the collection and recycling of scrap lead, maximizing its recyclable uses in an economical and environmentally friendly fashion. It is said that 85 per cent of lead is now used in lead batteries, all of which are recoverable and recyclable. In fact, lead-acid batteries are the most recycled consumer product on the planet; and more than half of the lead produced and utilized globally every year has been used previously in other products. If you have lead to scrap ensure that it is clean and free of contaminants where no magnet sticks to it.
Clean Bare Aluminum Extrusion. Aluminum extrusion free from any paint, steel, wood, plastic, trash or debris. Anodized is acceptable. This Includes clean door and window frames that are stripped of glass, screws, caulk, and other debris. Absolutely no contaminants allowed in this grade.
Dirty extruded aluminum is thick unlike siding with basically all types of impurities, such as metallic soldering, plastic or rubber parts, and dirt or paint, are acceptable. Be aware, though, that this influences the total value you are getting for your scrap and must be inspected for contaminants upon grading your product.
Aluminum Siding scrap can be brought to Langille’s Metal Recycling and you can get paid for recycling it. Aluminum siding and gutters usually come for scrap after an installation, remodeling or damage to a home. If you have any aluminum scrap lying around your house be sure to collect it and bring it in for recycling. Aluminum siding could also have foam or insulation on it and it is always a good ideas to strip or scrape it off before selling it to your local yard. This insulation was built onto the siding to help provide better insulation for the house during the winter and summers when you want to keep your hot or cold air inside more efficiently. The cleaner the siding is the better the price will be upon inspection.
If you are scrapping cars, you should often times come across Aluminum Radiators while working. Unlike other aluminum/copper radiators, aluminum radiators will not have copper tubing running through them so the Aluminum Radiators Scrap Prices will be less. Be sure to separate your aluminum radiators from the rest of your scrap metal to make the most money.
Bare bright copper is by far the first as it is the most valuable and high-paying grade around. It refers exclusively to bare, uncoated and unalloyed wire or cable – no thinner than 16 gauge in thickness – which is of #1 copper quality. Copper piping is not included within the classification.
All wires must be stripped of insulation and other materials. Furthermore the metal must be free from any paint, impurities or signs of tarnishing. This includes any visible oxidation, and very negligible amounts of patina on the copper are allowable.
Shall consist of clean, unalloyed, uncoated copper clippings, punchings, ornaments, bus bars, commutator segments, and wire not less than 1/16 of an inch thick, free of burnt wire which is brittle, but may include clean copper tubing. Any impurities found in a load could result in the entire load being downgraded to #2 Classification.
No.2 Scrap Copper consists of clean, unalloyed copper solids. It may include clean, oxidized or coated (plated) copper clippings, punchings, bus bars, commutator segments. Copper pipe or tubing free of excessive solder also falls in this category, but must be clean and oxidized. It also consists of light gauge, clean, coated or oxidized wire that does not contain fine gauge hair wire. All No.2 Scrap Copper should not be excessively leaded, tinned or soldered. In addition, it must be free of excessive oxidation, scale, ash or brittle burnt wire and contain at least 96% copper.
No.2 Scrap Copper is not clean as the pipe may have solder or fittings attached to it. It can be even smaller than 1/16″ thick.
However all grades of wire are mainly graded upon arrival this will be a short description and pictures for reference purpose only.
No.1 Insulated Copper Wire shall consist of plastic insulated unalloyed, uncoated (plated) copper wire, with the copper wire not smaller than 16 gauge (B&S) and 70% upper copper content. When the insulation is removed the copper must be bare and uncoated. The typical recovery is 70% copper.
Wiring harnesses are found in electrical parts of cars and the Wiring Harness Scrap Prices vary from different scrap yards. A wiring harness contains a lot of wiring covered by a heavy plastic. You could make more money by stripping these wires to get the bare bright copper prices. Prices for wiring harness’s depend on how much of the material that you have.
Lead Acid Battery Scrap is the most commonly found Lead scrap. The automotive batteries become obsolete after three to five years of use. The tremendous rise in the number of vehicles is likely to produce increased quantities of Lead Battery Scrap in future.
It is punishable to ship lead acid batteries to overseas destinations for recycling, due to its hazardous nature. Normally, collection centers receive used batteries from consumers and transport them to authorized recycling centers for further processing. If you have a large amount of Lead acid Battery scrap please contact us at Langille’s for the best pricing.
